STEPS TAKEN FOR
IMPROVEMENT OF AGRICULTURE IN INDIA| ALL ABOUT INDIA
Indian
Agriculture is fully
dependent on monsoon rainfall which is irregular and uncertain hence irrigation
is important for Indian agriculture. There are many problems in Indian
agriculture like flood, lack of HYV seeds , lack of modern technology, low
yield of crops per hectare , and many things but this problems have been overcome
to a great extend by the following steps :
1.INCREASE IN AGRICULTURAL LAND:
We know that the population of India is increasing day
by day therefore the lands are becoming less for humans to live. By this agricultural
lands are also becoming less to cultivate. Hence our Government has found a
solution that they are trying to bring the barren, infertile and reclaimed
lands under cultivation.
2. PER CAPITA
LAND:
Per capita land
of the farmers have been increased by stopping fragmentation of land and
starting co-operative farming to stop the decrease of land per capita.
3. HYV SEEDS:
High Yielding
Variety of seeds are being used to increase the production of the crop .
Example : HYV of cotton : MCU4, MCU5 , Sujata and HYV of wheat : Sonera 63,
Sonera 64, Sona 227.
4. MODERN
MACHINERIES:
Use of modern
machineries like tractor, harvesters , winnowers , thresher , elevator , etc.
increases the speed, quality and amount of work , hence it increases the
production of crops.
5. IRRIGATION:
Indian agriculture
is dependent of rainfall which is irregular and uncertain therefore irrigation
is necessary to increase the production.
6. FERTILIZER AND
PESTICIDES:
Use of chemical
fertilizer and pesticide have helped to maintain the yield of the crops. “Fertilizer
Corporation of India Limited”(FCI) and “Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation”(HFC)
are the two organization established to produce fertilizer.
7.PROGRAMMES AND
POLICIES:
The “Intensive
Agricultural District Programmes”(IADP) or the “Package Programmes” have been
taken up to look after the increase in agricultural product in India.
8. LOANS AND
INSURANCES :
Easy loans and
insurance coverage are provided to the farmers by the NABARD (National Bank for
Agricultural and Rural Development)
9. RESEARCH:
Researches are
the most important part of agriculture where new types of HYV seeds and many
more things are researched. In India researches are being conducted
continuously by the “Indian Council of Agricultural Research”(ICAR) for further
development in agriculture.
10. GREEN
REVOLUTION:
In 1964-65, the
project taken up for the profuse increase in agricultural produce by the use of
modern agricultural methods and infrastructure is known as the Green
Revolution.
