POVERTY,THE MAJOR OBSTACLE FOR INDIA’S PROGRESS

 

 

                                                                                   

                                                                                 India is a large democratic country but still stands in 68 th position in the poorest country table. In India almost 7 % of the India’s population that is around 84 millions of people in India are lying below poverty line . The percentage has reduced by time in 2011 the poverty percent in India was around 15% which is reduce now by 8%. India has capability to reduce it more and free from poverty . Internationally peoples whose daily income is less than or equal to RS 150 are considered to be below poverty line .  Poverty in India has some how became an unimportant issue but our government should take care of it . Other wise poverty will keep on increasing day by day and would stop the progress of India. In this blog you are going to learn how poverty has became the major obstacle for India’s progress .

 

CAUSES OF POVERTY IN INDIA :

Poverty is nothing but the state of being poor . Now a days during covid time poverty has increased to great extend . During the lockdown period many people has gone through very miserable condition . Many people were fighting to met up their livelihood and essential items which are required daily because all the work , job , source of income, etc were stopped for around 4-5 months. This covid has affected many Indians very adversely. There are many causes for the poverty covid is also one of them . And also during the covid time many of the people were thrown out of their  jobs and works which has lead to increase in unemployment and caused poverty. Increase amount of income of a person can also lead poverty to very great extend. Death of the earner means that if in a family only one person use to earn money his death can also cause poverty of the whole family. And also if that person suffers from some long term disease like cancer  he cannot go to his work to get paid then also his family will suffer from poverty. Increasing price of daily use essential products like soap, vegetable, fruits, medical treatment can also lead to poverty for some families. There are many more causes of poverty like lack of infrastructure , lack of capital , slow rate economic development, increasing population, lack of essential products, lack of government interest, lack of free medical treatment , etc   

 CRITICISM OF OUR GOVERNMENT

Our government is doing well to solve poverty problem but still they lacked to solved it. There are many facilities which are introduced by our government but all these facilities have some problem in them. Our government has introduced BPL card for the people below poverty line. But it is next to impossible to get a BPL card . I have seen some people misusing the BPL card but our government could not do anything. By BPL card people can get free ration from ration shops (Dal, wheat, sugar, rice, etc). Many who are rich and can easily afford ration are also getting BPL card for them and the poor people cannot get it easily . By this the unneeded one is getting free ration and needed one has  to stand in line to get BPL card . This is misuse of BPL card. Our government has also set up free medical campus in each and every locality but the condition of the free medical campus is very miserable . These medical campus is very much unhygienic and uncleaned. People has to stand for hours to get free medical treatment . It is also hard to get free  medical treatment in it. Here the main mistake is not of government the main mistake is of the worker who work there. They are very irresponsible . They do not care about the patient coming there. The rude behavior of the workers is also one of the reason for the failure. They only come to work to get money.

WHAT GOVERNMENT COULD DO ?

Government is doing hard to solve poverty but they are unable to do so. Government should check the status and background of the person before giving them BPL card so that BPL card do goes in wrong hands. Government can keep an eye on the workers  who are working in government offices so that they cannot cheat anyone innocent coming to the office and do there duties honestly. Our government can give job of the died one to one of its family member. Government should keep checking the prices of the daily needed items so that anyone can buy it . 

MY VIEW

I am a young Indian boy who wants to change India through his writing . I want all the Indians to take pledge that they will never ever cheat the government in any way possible and help the poor in every possible way . And if you have the ability to manage to earn your livelihood so please never take BPL card . Let others who truly need BPL card let them to take it . I know India is a very developed nation and Indians  can fight with this poverty.
